The Future of Water in South Dakota

November 9, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

Join Friends of the Big Sioux River on Thursday, November 9th, at Augustana University for a captivating evening of discussion about the future of water in South Dakota. A short reception at 6:30 PM will feature booths from local water and conservation organizations, along with light refreshments. The program will officially begin at 7:00 PM with a presentation of FBSR’s 2023 Big Sioux River water quality testing data. Following this update, Jay Gilbertson of East Dakota Water Development District and Troy Larson of Lewis & Clark Regional Water System will give their keynote presentation titled, When Demand Exceeds Availability: Where Will the Extra Water Come From? This thought-provoking presentation will center around the use of current existing water resources, the growing demand for water across the state, and the importance of protecting this finite resource for the future. A short audience Q&A session will follow the presentation. All community members are invited to attend this free event. We look forward to seeing you there!

Thank you to the Office of Sustainability and the Environmental Studies Program at Augustana University for sponsoring this event.
